DHARWAD: The Reservation In Promotion Preservation Samiti has strongly opposed the listings of the Karnataka University, Dharwad (KUD) Syndicate meeting.
The Samithi in a memorandum submitted to the KUD Vice-Chancellor said, one of the Syndicate members has raised objection to the reservation-based promotion and seniority list of KUD employees and, unfortunately, the officials had included this issue for discussion in the Syndicate meeting.
The government had made it clear about the promotion and seniority list of the SC/ST employees and even the apex court had also given its verdict in the B K Pavitar and others’ case. Therefore, raising this issue time and again was uncalled for and it may disturb a healthy and harmonious environment in the university campus. Furthermore, including such issue in the Syndicate agenda was also not legally correct, the Samithi said.
The Samithi said, interference of the Syndicate members in the matters which didn’t come under their purview would not augour well for the academic development of the varsity. Therefore, it would be better if the the Syndicate members restrained from such sensitive issues.
